Estimates & getting started
Are estimates really free?
Yes. Every estimate from Lifetime Custom Painting is free, in writing, and comes with a fixed price — no obligation and no pressure. We usually get your written quote back within one business day of seeing the project.
How do I get a quote?
Call (619) 591-9936 or request a free estimate online. We'll schedule a visit, look at the space, discuss color and scope, and send a fixed written quote. Most quotes come back within one business day.
Do you offer a free color consultation?
Yes. A free color consultation is included with our interior and cabinet projects. We help you match colors to your lighting, finishes, and style so you feel confident before any paint goes on the wall.
Pricing & payment
How much does it cost to paint a house in San Diego?
Interior painting in San Diego typically runs $3 to $7 per square foot, and exterior painting $2.50 to $5 per square foot, depending on prep, stories, and finish. A standard 2,000 sq ft home usually lands between $4,000 and $9,000. Every estimate is free and fixed in writing.
Why do painting quotes vary so much?
Big price gaps usually come down to prep and product. A low bid often skips washing, patching, priming, or uses cheaper paint that fails within a year. Our fixed quotes include the prep and premium products that make a finish last, so you're comparing real value, not just a number.
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes. We offer a 10% military discount on residential painting services and a free color consultation. Ask about both when you get your estimate.
Process & preparation
How long does a typical painting project take?
Most interior repaints take 2 to 4 days and exterior repaints 3 to 6 days, depending on square footage, prep, and weather. Cabinet refinishing usually takes 3 to 5 days. We give you a firm schedule before we start and update you daily.
What does your prep process include?
Prep is 80% of a lasting finish. Depending on the surface, we wash, scrape, sand, patch, caulk, and prime before any color goes on. Furniture and floors are protected and we clean up daily. Skipping prep is why cheap paint jobs fail — we never skip it.
Do I need to move furniture or leave home?
No. Our crews move and cover furniture and protect floors as part of the job, and you can stay in your home. We seal off work areas and keep the rest of the house clean and usable throughout.
Paint, products & warranty
What kind of paint do you use?
We use premium Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore products matched to each surface and to San Diego's coastal climate. For exteriors we choose UV- and salt-resistant coatings; for interiors we favor low-VOC paints that are safer for your family. Quality paint is why our finishes last.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. Our work is backed by a 2-year warranty on cabinet refinishing and a 5 to 10 year warranty on exterior painting, depending on the system. Proper prep and premium products are what let us stand behind the work that long.
Is the paint safe for kids and pets?
Yes. For interiors we favor low-VOC paints that have minimal odor and are safer for families and pets. Rooms are usually ready to use the same day, and we ventilate as we work.
Licensing, insurance & trust
Is Lifetime Custom Painting licensed and insured?
Yes. We are a licensed California contractor (CSLB #1002304), EPA Lead-Safe Certified, and carry up to $2M in liability coverage with W-2 crews covered by Workers' Comp. Your home, your family, and our painters are fully protected on every job.
Are your painters employees or subcontractors?
Our painters are trained, W-2 employees covered by Workers' Comp — not rotating day labor. That's how we keep the same standard and accountability on every job, and it protects you if anyone is injured on your property.
What certifications and memberships do you hold?
We're a licensed California contractor (CSLB #1002304), an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm, BBB A+ accredited, and members of the Painting Contractors Association (PCA). We carry up to $2M in liability coverage.
Cabinets & specialty work
Is cabinet painting better than replacing cabinets?
For solid, well-built cabinets, painting is the smarter value — 30 to 60 percent less than replacement, done in days instead of weeks, with a factory-smooth sprayed finish. We'll tell you honestly if your cabinets are good candidates during the free estimate.
What other services do you offer besides painting?
Beyond interior, exterior, cabinet, and commercial painting, we handle power washing, popcorn ceiling removal, wallpaper removal, drywall and carpentry repair, deck and fence staining, epoxy floors, water damage restoration, graffiti removal, and historic home restoration.
Service area & scheduling
What areas do you serve?
We serve all of San Diego County, from the South Bay (Chula Vista, National City, Imperial Beach) north to Oceanside and east to Alpine, plus coastal communities like La Jolla, Del Mar, and Coronado. Our crews work coastal and inland properties daily.
Do you do commercial and HOA work?
Yes. We paint HOAs, condos, multifamily, offices, retail, and restaurants across San Diego County, scheduling around residents and business hours with W-2 crews and $2M coverage. Property managers and boards can request certificates of insurance.
How far in advance should I book?
It depends on the season — spring and early fall are busiest. We recommend reaching out a couple of weeks ahead when you can, but we'll always give you the earliest realistic start date and a firm schedule once you're booked.
